Leipziger Autorenrunde

Organizer: Leipziger Messe GmbH

The Leipzig Authors’ Roundtable is the authors’ conference at eye level – by authors for authors in an interactive (roundtable) format. It has been organized by the Leipzig Book Fair in cooperation with Leander Wattig since 2013 and has been fully booked every year since then.

In 2020, due to a pandemic, not only the Leipzig Book Fair had to be cancelled for the first time, but also the Leipzig Authors’ Roundtable. Since then, Corona has represented a major and, for some, existential challenge in the lives of authors. It is important for everyone to survive this difficult time and to bridge it creatively. The best way to do this is together. The organizers want to set an example!

That is why they have decided to do their part and dare an experiment themselves. In 2021, the Leipzig Authors’ Roundtable will take place for the first time purely digitally and at the usual time on the Saturday of the Book Fair from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – in an adapted format that is intended to help each other as authors to survive economically and artistically in the digital world. The program motto is therefore: “The digital us”.

The organizers are very much looking forward to this joint journey and the special digital edition of the Leipzig Authors’ Round Table, which gives us the chance to be and remain connected to everyone, even in these pandemic times. But it is also an experiment with the goal that everyone supports each other in the best possible way. That can only happen together.
