Banksy sells artwork and donates 16,8 Millionen pounds

At the auction house Christie’s, the painting “Game Changer” by Bansky was auctioned for 16.8 million pounds. The proceeds will go to the British health authority.

Banksy – Game Changer

Banksy’s painting shows a kneeling boy holding up a doll with a red cross on its chest and cape. Below the flying nurse doll is a basket in which Batman and Spiderman are lying. It is a tribute to the nurses* who perform feats like superheroes during the pandemic.

Auctioneer Jussi Pylkänen solicited bids from every continent. The Christie’s auctioneer’s patience paid off. The previous record for auctioned works by Banksy was 9.9 million pounds. “Game Changer” fetched almost double that at 16.8 million pounds. Banksy donated 14.4 million pounds (excluding commission) to the UK’s National Health Service. The auction house Christie’s follows suit and donates a considerable portion of its commission as well.
