Berlin Senate issues complicated hygiene framework concept

On 21 pages including an appendix, the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe has published a hygiene framework concept. This should serve as a basis for the planned and partly already practiced openings during the Corona crisis. It contains specific rules for the different types of events. Thus, not only cultural events are included, but also, among others, choral singing, museums, libraries, music schools, and religious or cultic events.

TU Professor Kriegel’s formula for calculating the number of people in rooms with mechanical ventilation is particularly exciting. Such a ventilation system can shift the maximum number of visitors* upwards from 100 persons. According to the document’s appendix, this is possible “if a mechanical ventilation system with continuous fresh air volume flow (100%), which supplies the entire event room as well as the adjoining rooms with supply air from outside and consistently removes the exhaust air from the room”.

The calculation example should make event organizers feel like they are back in their school days. The complete document can be downloaded here.
