Making diversity visible in German media

A theme day in Berlin was devoted to the portrayal of Jewish life in Germany and commemorated the attack on the Halle synagogue two years ago. At the moment, about 200,000 Jews are living in Germany again. Minister of Statethe for Culture Monika Grütters emphasized the social responsibility of the media. It is necessary to depict reality in its diversity and to sensitize media reporting, social media and media users and to break down stereotypes.

The theme day was launched by the  Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, the Commissioner of the Bundesregierung für jüdisches Leben in Deutschland und den Kampf gegen Antisemitismus, the Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland and the Initiative kulturelle Integration.
