Fête de la Musique takes place – Live stream or live concerts?

The #FêteBerlin is taking place! Around 50 clubs, initiatives and concert halls are participating with 100 concerts registered so far. Among them are the Frannz Club, the Centre Francais cultural center in Wedding, the Sage Beach club, the Wendenschloss lido, St. Matthew’s Church at the Kulturforum and the exhibition organizers of “Berlin Global” at the Humboldt Forum.

It is not yet clear whether live events will also be held at individual locations. The effort for live events is enormous this year. “And since all events are free of charge, many will not be able to afford it,” says Björn Döring. He has been curator of Berlin’s Fête de la Musique since 2018. “We are currently talking to some locations about what is feasible. Safety first is the top priority,” says Döring. Because a hygiene concept alone is not enough. Barriers and tests are just as important as seating. He says it is unrealistic to expect guests to keep their distance and remain seated instead of dancing after a year and a half of abstinence from concerts. So if the incidence remains at a low level, these problems will still remain for the organizers.

In addition to this, a fundraising campaign will start on June 11 to support musicians and also venues of the Fête de la Musique with donations. All music fans are invited to participate in the campaign, which runs on the Betterplace platform.
